Role Overview
The Senior Analyst will elicit, analyse, specify and validate business and system requirements for complex, cross-functional or strategically significant JSE initiatives. The role supports solution design, testing and adoption, including the recovery of requirements from existing systems using AI-enabled tooling.Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Business Analysis certification from a recognised institution, such as IIBA CBAP or equivalent.
- Agile analysis certification such as IIBA-AAC, PSPO or SAFe is advantageous.
- Training or certification in AI tooling for analysis and software engineering is advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst or equivalent, including at least 3 years on complex, multi-team or cross-domain initiatives.
- Experience across more than one business or technology domain, or within a shared services or consulting environment.
- Experience analysing existing systems for modernisation, migration or replacement, including recovery of requirements from limited or outdated documentation.
- Demonstrated practical use of AI-assisted tooling in analysis work.
- Financial services, capital markets or regulated-environment experience is strongly preferred.
Key Skills & Knowledge
- Advanced requirements elicitation, analysis, specification and validation.
- Business process analysis and modelling, including BPMN; system modelling including UML, data modelling and interface specification.
- Agile analysis: user stories, acceptance criteria, backlog refinement and Definition of Ready/Done.
- Software Development Lifecycle knowledge across design, build, test, release and operational support.
- AI-assisted analysis using large language model and agentic tools for requirements drafting, summarisation, traceability, test scenario generation and analysis of source code, configuration and integration definitions.
- Reverse engineering of legacy systems to recover business rules, process logic and data requirements, including code, message schemas, integration maps and operational data.
- Data analysis to support requirements, impact assessment and decision-making.
- Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps and modelling tools.
- Facilitation, negotiation and stakeholder management across business and technology audiences.
- Understanding of information security, POPIA, intellectual property and audit requirements as they apply to requirements, solution design and AI tooling.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver agreed analysis scope within assignment plans and timelines.
- Work with business owners, product owners, engineering teams, architects, testers and other stakeholders.
- Elicit requirements through interviews, workshops, surveys, observation and analysis of existing documentation, systems and data.
- Conduct feasibility, cost and benefit analysis and prepare business cases or option assessments where required.
- Produce business and functional requirements, process models, user stories and acceptance criteria, maintaining traceability through to testing.
- Work with architects and engineers on solution design and review technical designs against requirements.
- Review test cases and coverage, participate in defect triage and support UAT.
- Use AI tooling to recover requirements, business rules, process logic, data structures and interface behaviour from existing systems.
- Validate AI-generated findings and apply appropriate human verification.
- Use AI to support requirements drafting, traceability, test scenarios and acceptance criteria.
- Support modernisation and migration programmes through validated baseline requirements.
- Identify process and system improvement opportunities and recommend optimisation.
