Group Technology Fibre Lead – Infrastructure Development & Sharing
Are you a visionary telecom leader ready to shape the future of digital infrastructure across Africa?
In this strategic role within Group Technology, you will be the architectural anchor and strategic force behind the creation of high-impact infrastructure joint venture SPVs (Special Purpose Vehicles), with a primary focus on massive-scale Fibre deployments (FibreCo). Based in Midrand, you will design the blueprints, define the operating models, and drive the partnerships that connect millions.
If you have a rare blend of deep technical mastery in end-to-end fibre design and the commercial acumen to align technology with investor business cases, this is where you belong.
responsibilities
-
FibreCo Blueprinting & Strategy: Define the overarching technology strategy, architecture, and operating models for newly formed infrastructure joint venture SPVs. You’ll support the business case development and technical due diligence that makes these ventures viable.
-
End-to-End Network Planning: Lead the design and planning of comprehensive fibre network architectures, including FTTx, Metro, and Backhaul, ensuring they are optimized for both cost and performance.
-
Next-Gen Systems & Security: Develop integrated, scalable IT, OSS/BSS, and Cybersecurity frameworks to guarantee seamless, secure, and compliant network operations.
-
Strategic Ecosystem Building: Drive co-build initiatives and infrastructure sharing agreements. You'll cultivate vital partnerships with global vendors, institutional investors, and anchor customers.
-
Governance & Programme Leadership: Steer the execution from paper to physical deployment, managing high-level stakeholders, aligning with Group Supply Chain processes, and reporting directly to steering committees.
Experience and Qualification
-
The Blueprint: A Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
-
The Experience: A minimum of 10 years of deep telecom network planning experience, with a proven track record specifically in high-capacity fibre and end-to-end network design.
-
The Mindset: A strategic thinker who understands how technical architecture impacts a financial model. You are as comfortable negotiating vendor contracts or speaking with regulators and investors as you are reviewing network topologies.
-
The Catalyst: A strong programme leader who can drive execution across matrixed teams, ensuring alignment with overall Group Technology goals.
