Data Engineer - Lead
Role Overview
An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled Data Engineer to join a fast-paced technology environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and enhancing enterprise data solutions, with a strong focus on data integration, optimisation, and modernisation initiatives.
The role requires someone with strong technical capability across data warehousing, ETL development, and SQL-based technologies, as well as exposure to cloud-based data engineering platforms.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and integration solutions
• Develop and enhance ETL processes for enterprise reporting and analytics
• Support data modelling and data warehousing initiatives
• Perform solution optimisation, refactoring, and performance tuning of existing data environments
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity through reconciliation and data quality processes
• Collaborate with business and technical teams to deliver reliable reporting and analytics solutions
• Participate in deployment and release management activities within DevOps-driven environments
• Assist with the migration of legacy/on-premise data solutions to cloud platforms
Minimum Requirements
• Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar data-focused role
• Strong understanding of data modelling and data warehouse concepts
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining ETL/data integration pipelines
• Solid experience with:
o SSIS
o SSDT
o Microsoft SQL Server
o Power BI
• Experience with solution optimisation and performance improvement initiatives
• Understanding of data reconciliation frameworks and data quality management practices
• Knowledge of DevOps principles and deployment processes
Advantageous Skills
• Exposure to Microsoft Azure cloud technologies
• Experience working with Azure-based data engineering tools, including:
o Azure Data Factory (ADF)
o Synapse Analytics
o Microsoft Fabric
• Experience supporting cloud migration initiatives
